Delegates judge the Leadent Field Force Transformation Conference a success! - 23.03.2006

"Very useful forum, both in terms of hearing about other utilities' experience of implementing field management solutions, and of how they are implementing major cultural changes."

Christine Wardle - Metering Business Change Manager, National Grid

Our Field Force Transformation Conference took place in Stratford-upon-Avon on 22nd March 2006, attended by 60 delegates from across a variety of sectors including Electricity, Water, Gas, Facilities Management, Services and the Public Sector. The conference focused upon driving greater business efficiency from mobile asset management, efficient scheduling of maintenance & work, and how to ‘make business change really happen’ in this environment.

The conference started with a welcome from Alastair Clifford-Jones, CEO of Leadent, followed by fellow Leadent Directors: Mark Stevens, Director of Asset Intensive Industries and Steve Rowley, Strategy Director, who shared some of the current industry challenges & trends to set the scene – a clear statement about where different companies are in implementing Asset Management & Field Force transformation.

Our guest speakers were fantastic presenters - leaving the audience with much food for thought, as they compared and contrasted their own companies' progress.

David Cooke, Anglian Water’s Director of Water Services, described how Operations Management has been established in order to transform the effectiveness of their operators in the field. Delegates heard that this was achieved by pioneering new business processes, software and the use of hand-held technology to massively improve efficient deployment and utilisation of AWS’s Field Workforce.

John Evans, The Business Transformation Director at Thames Water, described how Thames is driving through a step change in efficiency across all parts of the company, in order to achieve a real improvement in efficiency.

Whilst Business Transformation was at the heart of this conference, the line up would not have been complete without highlighting some of the technology that underpins such business transformations - hence SAP’s Mike Lewis described to delegates how SAP Mobile Asset Management was proving to be an invaluable element of such initiatives, whilst Tony Lewis European Director for ClickSoftware, presented how their world-class scheduling system uses business-rules to reach new levels of efficiency.

Alastair chaired a lively a Question & Answer session with the Conference Panel, to complete the conference, which all delegates felt was a very valuable day.
