Process Optimisation

BPR?  Transformation?  Or just good old Process Improvement?

Well, they're just different forms of the same beast - it all depends on what you want to achieve.

The main difference between BPR, transformation and process improvement is down to how radical the changes will be and the scale of impact of the changes on the affected communities. Whatever the nature of the changes, effective Change Management practices must be employed to ensure effective take-on by the business communities and sustainable realisation of benefits.

Leadent consultants have seen most variations in process change initiatives from small scale tinkering to being given a blank sheet of paper to design a totally new organisation (including one of the world's largest companies!). The foundation principles are, however, the same - simplicity and clarity

'Business Basics'

Our approach strips away the 'noise' from the process and gets back to the basic tasks that your business must perform in order to produce its outcomes (whether it be product or service); we focus on what is important to you without being constrained by who is doing it or where it is done - these come later and are just unnecessary restrictions for now.

So called 'blue sky' thinking is all very well, but organisations are real and very few process initiatives are unconstrained. There has to be a point where innovation and radical ideas meet immovable organisational boundaries or already-bought software products. There has to be a balance between what you would like to design into you new business processes and the cost of moving the brick walls.

Naturally, any process change must support your corporate vision, whether an existing vision or created by a new visioning exercise. Solutions must have a robust business case, pro-active sponsorship and real ownership.

So which are you looking at doing - BPR, Transformation or Improvement? ...or do you have another flavour!

If you would like to discuss your thoughts on process change, whatever the scale of your vision, then contact Leadent on 08707 664 884 or at info@leadent.com.
